Voter Registration
by Brandi Dohm

Traditionally in Oklahoma, registered Independent voters (listed as "No Party") have been allowed to vote in the Democratic primary. For the 2026 election cycle, however, due to a filing error, Oklahoma's primaries are considered closed, and registered Independent voters will not be allowed to vote in the primaries.

Oklahoma's primary elections often give a clear picture of who will ultimately win statewide races, including the Governor's race. Because of that, it is critical that Independent voters understand that they must change their voter registration if they want to participate in the 2026 primaries.
Independent voters must change their voter registration no later than April 1, 2026. After that date, Oklahoma law does not allow party affiliation changes until after the primary elections.

Changing your voter registration is quick and easy and can be done online at the OK Voter Portal

It took this author less than one minute to complete the process online. You will need your driver's license number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
While the deadline may have passed for some special or down-ballot primaries, Independent voters still have time to change their registration in order to vote in the 2026 Governor's primary, including the Democratic primary for Cyndi Munson.

Due to some last-minute editorial confusion, we did not get our December 2025 Newsletter completed. So we are including meeting notes for both months.

Meeting notes from December
Mitchell Jacob, US Congressional District 4 candidate was our guest speaker for our December Meeting. Mitchell highlighted his upbringing, military career, and law studies. Look for Mr. Jacob to return to Chickasha on May 23, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM when he will debate against fellow Democratic Candidate Jeff Pixley.

Meeting notes from January
We had a great planning meeting in January. We discussed getting people to run for Chickasha City Council and Mayor, and we have a least one member already planning to run. We also discussed migrating to the new Facebook group where we will have full admin control, as well as setting up a TikTok feed. We are also starting to lay out plans for our monthly service projects. It was a good meeting, and a lot was accomplished.
